This video depicts the necessary steps to clean rusted threads on weld nuts when installing a trailer hitch.
Tools Required:
- Penetrating Lubricant
- Wire Brush
- Thread Tap
Use a wire brush and penetrate using a pb blaster to clean out the nut. If light scrubbing does not do the trick, we suggest using a thread tap. Use caution when threading the tap into the weld nut, it is important that when tapping out the hole, the shaft of the tap is perpendicular to the weld nut before you thread through so that the threads to not get damaged.
